Thieves Get $5,000 From Burbank Bank

Two thieves made off with $5,000 from a Burbank bank after warning a teller not to touch the alarm button, Burbank police reported Friday.

The robbery occurred at 4 p.m. Thursday at Hancock Savings Bank, 1090 N. San Fernando Blvd., said Lt. Al Moody.

Moody said two men wearing sunglasses but otherwise undisguised and possibly unarmed, walked up to a teller as she was typing and demanded the money in hundred-dollar bills. It took the teller a moment to realize what was happening, Moody said, but she caught on when one of the robbers said, "Don't press the alarm."

No one was injured and there was no sign of a weapon, Moody said. The robbery remains under investigation, he said.
