CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : FRESNO : Uncle Charged in Toddler’s Death
An 18-month-old Modesto toddler has died after an alleged beating by his uncle. Jay Slinker was pronounced dead at Valley Children’s Hospital after allegedly being severely shaken by his uncle Alberto Narro. Narro, 28, of Modesto told police he was angry at the child and shook him because he would not eat dinner. Narro was arraigned on murder charges in Stanislaus County Municipal Court. Narro and his wife were taking care of the toddler while his mother settled into a new residence in Nevada. Narro’s wife was not home when the incident occurred Wednesday night, police said.
