Hernandez’s Victory Certified by Council
The Los Angeles City Council Tuesday certified the results of last week’s election that will put insurance agent and bail bondsman Mike Hernandez in the council seat formerly occupied by Gloria Molina.
Hernandez defeated attorney Sharon Mee Yung Lowe in the election, which saw 24.77% of the 1st District’s 33,863 registered voters visit the polls. When Hernandez takes his seat next week, the council will have a full complement of 15 members, which it has not seen for nearly a year.
