TUSTIN : Mayor Phones Again to Get the Picture

Phone calls from the dais are getting to be a regular occurrence at Tustin City Council meetings. On Monday, for the second meeting in a row, Mayor Charles E. Puckett made a quick call during the meeting to see whether cable viewers were able to see the action.

According to Puckett, the picture is fuzzy but OK.

Earlier this month, Puckett said the same thing after Continental Cable, one of the city’s two cable companies, put in a new cable line. He pulled out a phone and called Helen Edgar, Councilman Richard B. Edgar’s wife, and got the A-OK. She had complained at previous meetings about the quality of the transmission.

But unbeknown to Puckett and Edgar, viewers of the city’s other cable system, Community Cable, did not have a picture. On Monday night, Puckett called new Parks and Recreation Commissioner Margarete Thompson to check things out.

“She says we’re looking fuzzy, but I’ve heard that before,” Puckett said. “So now we’re on Continental and we’re on Community and we’re serving the community.”
