Bradley, Galanter Going to Environmental Meet
Mayor Tom Bradley and City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter will lead a Los Angeles delegation to Canada this weekend for an international conference on the environment.
More than 100 local government leaders from around the world will meet in Toronto for the “World Cities and Their Environment.” Los Angeles hosted a similar meeting last year.
Delegates to the three-day conference plan to forward their decisions to the United Nations Conference on the Environment and Development, set next year in Brazil. Galanter said the city’s nearly 4 million residents have a “tremendous” environmental impact. “It is important that our city and all of the other cities throughout the world understand the impact of our current policies and that there are environmentally sound means to reach our goals,” she said.
