Armed Robber Dies of Heart Attack in Middle of Holdup
An armed robber died of an apparent heart attack that struck while he was scooping money from a restaurant safe, but his cohorts made off with the loot, police said.
Rudolfo Naranjo, 49, was dead on arrival at Baptist Medical Center Thursday night after he was stricken during a robbery at the Bill Miller Bar-B-Q restaurant, police said.
An autopsy was planned.
The man collapsed clutching a gun in one hand and reaching into the safe with the other, police said. The two men with him snatched the gun from his hand and ordered restaurant employees to call an ambulance, then fled with about $60, witnesses said.
