Three Oxnard men were arrested on weapons charges following a brawl in a South Oxnard Boulevard restaurant that sent a cook who intervened to the hospital with a head wound, authorities said.
Daniel Rodriquez Lopez, 19; Jose Jaime Garcia, 21, and Jorge Valencia Orozco, 21, were arrested by officers responding to a report at 10:12 p.m. Saturday of a fight at Super Antojitos Restaurant.
Police said Jose Lozano, a cook at the restaurant, was attempting to break up the fight between the three suspects and other unknown participants when Garcia pulled a handgun and pointed it at him. Lopez then allegedly struck Lozano in the back of the head with a pool cue, causing a large gash in Lozano’s scalp.
Garcia, in turn, fired the pistol several times into the floor and then tossed it to Orozco, who fled, police said. Officers apprehended Garcia and Lopez after a brief struggle and found Orozco in the bed of a pickup truck in the restaurant parking lot.
Lopez was being held on $5,000 bail Sunday night at Ventura County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Orozco was being held on $5,000 bail on suspicion of possession of a concealed weapon. Garcia, whose bail information was not available Sunday, was booked on suspicion of brandishing a weapon and reckless firing of a handgun.
