Superintendent Being Sought

Share

Lawndale School District trustees are seeking a replacement for Supt. James Waters, who is leaving the district in September to take a job in San Diego County.

Waters, who has headed Lawndale’s elementary school district for the past seven years, said he decided to take the post of superintendent at the Santee School District for professional reasons.

“I’m not leaving because of any dissatisfaction or concern about Lawndale,” Waters said. “But this is an opportunity that I just felt I couldn’t turn down.”

The board has appointed Assistant Supt. David Moorhouse as acting superintendent of the 4,500-student district until a permanent replacement for Waters can be found. Waters’ last day with the district is Sept. 20.
