PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NFL : McClanahan Agrees to Drug Program
Former Minnesota Viking running back Brent McClanahan agreed to participate in a diversion program to resolve charges that he was under the influence of a dangerous drug. Criminal proceedings in Bakersfield Municipal Court were suspended after the agreement with the District Attorney’s Office was announced.
Prosecutors said tests found traces of heroin and cocaine in McClanahan’s system after he was arrested July 12 when officers responded to a disturbance at his home.
The Seattle Seahawks placed safety Vann McElroy, a former Raider, and wide receiver Jeff Chadwick on injured reserve and activated fullback James Jones and safety Nesby Glasgow.
