A Vista man was arrested in connection with a fight that ended in the shooting death of another Vista man earlier this week, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
Mauricio Campos Silva, 18, was arrested at his home on Indian Rock Road on Tuesday, but deputies said they believe that a second suspect, a 16-year-old boy, has fled to Mexicali, Mexico.
Silva, who deputies said they believe drove the car in the incident, is being held without bail in County Jail in Vista.
Daniel Garcia, 15, and Adrian Tafur, 26, were both shot in the chest early Sunday morning during an argument over “a female relationship” in front of the Tafur residence on Goodwin Drive in Vista, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Tafur died Sunday at Palomar Hospital, and Garcia was in fair condition Tuesday at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla after undergoing emergency surgery.
