Stop the Press: The show-business trade newspaper Daily Variety did not arrive in the mail, at newsstands or next to morning cups of decaffeinated cappuccino on Wednesday, causing a disruption in the usual routines of many in Hollywood. Publisher Michael Silverman said a “mechanical breakdown” Tuesday night at the printing plant caused the delay. But he said deliveries of the 23,000-plus circulation journal had been made by 11 a.m. to 350 locations, including film and TV production studios.
