MOORPARK : Council Action May Benefit McDonald’s

Share

Four years after McDonald’s Corp. picked a location for its first restaurant in Moorpark, the City Council took a step Wednesday that may speed up a decision on the proposed site.

The council approved the company’s request to separate its application for a building permit from the city’s General Plan update. Considering McDonald’s request separately may reduce the time for processing the application by six months, Community Development Director Patrick Richards said.

McDonald’s first contracted to purchase the proposed location at Spring Road and Los Angeles Avenue in 1987. A decision on the project has been delayed several times because of the city’s desire to consider the project as part of the General Plan update, which covers 10 proposed residential and commercial developments.
