Charlotte V. Sexton, a former professional dancer who opened a North Hollywood art supply store with her husband 49 years ago, has died at her North Hollywood home. She was 83.

Mrs. Sexton died Sept. 2 of complications of recent strokes, said her husband, Carter Sexton.

Born in Seattle, Wash., she came to California as a child. She danced in several films and appeared in the chorus line at the Pantages Theatre. In 1942, she and her husband opened Carter Sexton Artists Materials in North Hollywood. Mrs. Sexton managed the store until the late 1970s, when the couple sold the business to a daughter, Diane Green of Tarzana, who continues to operate the store.
