Humorless Emmy Show

It is unfortunate that the raunchy humor on the recent Emmy Awards telecast had to spoil a program supposedly devoted to the presentation of awards. Shouldn’t such a show have more dignity, more class? Instead, it reiterated the depths to which TV comedy has plunged.

Raunch is not synonymous with funny. True humor requires intelligent writing about all comic aspects of everyday life--as evidenced by the two brief clips that were shown of former comedy shows. Those shows were funny and wholesome. Too many of the situation comedies today are filled with vulgar humor that negates any family viewing.
