In the final warm-up before the official start of the 1991-92 TV season this week, CBS won the ratings competition and got a big tune-in for its new series “P.S.I. Luv U,” the A. C. Nielsen Co. reported Tuesday. CBS averaged an 11.5 prime-time rating for last week, compared to 11.1 for NBC and 10.2 for ABC (each point represents 921,000 households). “P.S.I. Luv U” ranked eighth among the week’s 89 prime-time network programs. The only debuting series that did better than that was NBC’s “Nurses,” which placed seventh. The full list of ratings is on F9.

* NBC, in an effort to jump-start “The Adventures of Mark & Brian,” starring KLOS-FM morning personalities Mark Thompson and Brian Phelps, aired the show three times last week. It was No. 40 on Monday and No. 27 on Thursday. But when the show moved into its regular time slot Sunday, it dropped to No. 67. That was second best in the period, far behind CBS’ “60 Minutes.”
