Stop the Pounding: M. C. Hammer’s neighbors want the rap star to turn down the volume in his studio in a small business park in the suburb of Fremont northeast of San Jose. They say his music is so loud that heavy machinery in a nearby machine shop is drowned out and one secretary says she has to take her telephone into the bathroom to hear customers. The neighbors have gone to city officials in order to quiet Hammer.
