Police Thursday investigated a suspected suicide pact between a San Diego couple who had been staying at a guest house.

They were registered as Mary Monica Falerio and Bosco Falerio, but police would not confirm whether those were the names of the victims.

A note found by police indicated that they intended to take their own lives.

The dead man’s body was recovered from the River Liffey Wednesday night. Receipts found on his body led police to a guest house in upper Gardiner Street, close to the city center, police said. Half an hour later, police found the body of a woman in a bedroom of the guest house.

A preliminary autopsy showed that the man drowned and the woman died of a drug overdose.

The couple had been staying at the guest house for four days, police said.

A police spokesman said, “They were American citizens. Foul play is not suspected.”

The woman had an Irish passport that said she was born in Cork, Ireland. The man was born in New Delhi, police said.
