A 17-year-old boy was shot in the head Thursday night in Southeast San Diego in what police believe was a gang-related incident.
Chambo Thamhaksa, who was riding in a car when he was shot, was in critical condition at UC San Diego Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said. Police said they had no address for Thamhaksa.
Residents in the area of Bullock Drive and Deep Dell Road called police after hearing rapid shots at 10 p.m. Thursday. When police arrived, they found bullet casings and broken glass in the street, Lt. Dan Berglund said.
Witnesses told police that the victim was shot by four men in a small white car.
