Nation IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON STATE : Scores Left Homeless by Apartment Fire

Fire roared through three buildings in a Seattle low-income apartment complex, leaving nearly 100 families homeless, authorities said. Twenty people remained unaccounted for after the fire, but no one had been reported missing, Acting Fire Chief Steve Bailey said. Some residents may have been elsewhere when the fire started, he said. Investigators were unable to enter the smoldering rubble because of hot spots.
