Fire Station Near Prison to Get State Aid

Share

The state will pay $219,800 toward construction of a Los Angeles County fire station in Lancaster to provide protection for a future state prison, under an agreement approved Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors.

The agreement was forged after the county’s Consolidated Fire Protection District determined that the station it originally planned to build in Lancaster could not provide adequate protection for the prison, now under construction.

The state Department of Corrections agreed to pay a per-square-foot fee similar to that paid by private developers, according to the agreement.
