WLAF Might Fold After One Season
Predictions of a quick end to the World League of American Football surfaced after the 26 shareholders--the Chicago Bears and the Phoenix Cardinals declined to help fund the WLAF--got a look at the bottom line for the first year of operation.
One well-placed source said losses totaled between $15 million and $20 million. The NFL had total ownership of the Frankfurt franchise and had a minority interest in several other franchises.
No WLAF team made a profit. Raleigh-Durham, N.C., folded.
