PRO FOOTBALL: DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Greene Ready for Sack Attack

Share

While Kevin Greene’s individual statistics are not yet up to his standards, he says in time the sacks and tackles will come.

Greene, whose 46 sacks from 1988 through ’90 led the NFL in that span, hasn’t recorded a sack this season and has only six tackles in four games. But Greene says his move from blitzing linebacker to defensive end in the Rams’ new defense isn’t what has diminished his numbers.

“It isn’t the switch, because I’m getting the hits, I’m getting the shots,” Greene says. “It’s that so far the quarterback is just getting rid of it in time or just doing something so I don’t get the sack.”

The Rams sent rookie offensive lineman Jeff Pahukoa through procedural recall waivers Thursday for the purpose of adding him to their 47-man roster today. The Rams decided on Pahukoa, who was on the team’s practice squad, because he can play all three inside spots, where the Rams are thin because of injuries.

According to Coach John Robinson, injured starters Jackie Slater, Alvin Wright and Fred Strickland should see action Sunday against the Green Bay Packers at Anaheim Stadium--but probably not as starters.
