Police are investigating the death Thursday of an 18-month-old girl.
Yasmen Escatel of the 400 block of Garfield Street was having trouble breathing at 9:43 a.m. Thursday, according to her aunt, who called authorities. When police and paramedics arrived, they noticed that the baby also had severe head injuries, an Oceanside police spokesman said.
The child was taken to Children’s Hospital in critical condition where she died at noon Friday. Police are still investigating .
