2 Sunland Residents Killed When Truck Hits Guardrail
Two Sunland residents were killed early Saturday when their pickup truck crashed into a guardrail on a freeway in Pacoima, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Officer Steve Torigoe said Klancy Arenedo, 19, and Juan Jimenez, 18, were traveling at a high rate of speed on the eastbound Simi Valley Freeway transition to the eastbound Foothill Freeway when the truck veered to the left, went over a dirt center divider and smashed into a guardrail.
Arenedo and Jimenez were pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
Torigoe said he does not know exactly how fast the truck was traveling or what caused it to go out of control.
