UAW, Deere Extend Labor Pact: Representatives of the United Auto Workers and Deere & Co. have extended their current labor pact indefinitely so that they can continue negotiations without the immediate threat of a strike. The extension came late Monday night, less than 90 minutes before a midnight deadline that could have triggered a strike by 13,000 workers in six states. “The contract extension will allow the two parties to continue their discussions for a new labor agreement,” a Deere spokesman said.
