A jury convicted a Bellflower woman Tuesday in the 1990 murder of her boyfriend’s estranged wife. Rosa Maria Duvall, 21, was found guilty of second-degree murder in the slaying of Carol Ann Lopez, 32, who was stabbed to death at her East Los Angeles home on Nov. 27, Deputy Dist. Atty. Jeff Smith said.

Lopez’s body was discovered by her eldest child when he arrived home from school. Duvall was romantically involved with Lopez’s estranged husband, Smith said.

The defendant was also convicted of two counts of kidnaping and child endangerment. After stabbing Lopez, Duvall took the woman’s children and abandoned them 15 miles from their East Los Angeles home, investigators said. Duvall will be sentenced on Oct. 31. She faces 16 years to life in prison.
