Semiconductor Sales Growth Expected to Slow: The ailing economy and slumping computer sales prompted a semiconductor industry group to revise its 1991 forecast downward, predicting continued growth but slower sales of the high-tech silicon parts. The Semiconductor Industry Assn. predicted worldwide semiconductor sales would hit $55.5 billion by the end of 1991, up 9.8%. Six months ago, the industry group predicted a 12.5% growth rate. The SIA predicted a healthy turnaround after 1991.
