A 15-year-old Huntington Beach youth was sentenced Wednesday to six years in the California Youth Authority for his part in a skinhead gang attack on a Chinese-American teen-ager in a Fullerton park.

Seven of 10 skinheads charged in the unprovoked, July 17 attack have either been convicted or pleaded guilty. Wednesday’s sentence was the stiffest penalty handed out so far.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Gary Paer said that the teen-ager’s role in the attack was “substantial,” that he was one of the main participants and that, if he had been 16, Paer would have asked to try him as an adult.

Two others, Andrew George, 17, of Whittier and David Richman, 17, of Anaheim, are to be tried as adults in connection with the incident.

The Huntington Beach teen-ager was sentenced in Juvenile Court on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of violating the state’s hate crimes statute and one count of second-degree robbery, which was committed before the park attack.

Another participant in the attack, a 17-year-old from La Habra, is scheduled to be sentenced this morning, Paer said. Two others are awaiting sentencing.

The victim, who has not been identified, recovered from the attack and is now attending college in Northern California.
