Graced with near-perfect weather during its 24-day run in Pomona, the Los Angeles County Fair broke last year’s attendance record by more than 125,000, authorities said Wednesday.

An all-time high of 1,612,097 people visited the fair through its last day Sunday, about 8.5% more than last year. County Fair President and CEO Ralph M. Hinds credited cooler temperatures compared with last year, along with an aggressive advertising campaign. “We were ahead over 100,000 (in attendance) roughly halfway through the fair and the numbers just continued to climb through the final day,” Hinds said.
