Pop Album Chart : Brooks Taking Aim at Guns N’ Roses
- Share via
Guns N’ Roses still tops the Billboard pop chart with both its “Use Your Illusion” albums, but Garth Brooks, a big winner at the Country Music Assn. awards show Wednesday, is a strong No. 3 and may soon break the Guns’ lock on the top two spots. His high-profile, national television appearance may send more fans out to get “Ropin’ the Wind.” Hot debuts: the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” (No. 14) and Harry Connick Jr.’s “Blue Light, Red Light” (No. 23). Barbra Streisand’s lauded four-CD “Just for the Record . . .” entered at No. 34, remarkable for a package that’s selling for about $56.
* Bryan Adams’ new album entered the chart at No. 6--by far his best album chart showing. His recent No. 1 single, “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” from “Robin Hood” is the big attraction.
