Basketball Backboard Frame Falls, Kills Student

HONOLULU —
A teen-ager died on his morning walk to school when a basketball backboard frame made of pipe fell on him, police said. Willie Tamaga Jr., 17, was walking through Kalihi Valley Homes’ recreational center Thursday when two boys knocked against the supports of a backboard outside a gymnasium, police said. The supports gave way and the entire frame fell on Tamaga.
