CS Long Beach Road Show Stops in Las Vegas

Share

Cal State Long Beach, which has not won on the road in more than two years, has one of its better opportunities of the season to end that streak tonight at 7 in a Big West Conference game at Nevada Las Vegas.

It is the first Big West game of the season for the Rebels (2-2), who have won only four of nine conference openers. However, UNLV is 105-44-3 at home.

The injury-riddled 49ers (0-4) are 0-1 in the conference and have lost 14 consecutive road games. They will play at undefeated Fresno State next Saturday and at second-ranked Miami on Oct. 19.

Freshman quarterback Mike McCoy of Long Beach, who replaced senior starter Todd Studer three weeks ago when Studer suffered a broken jaw late in a 48-14 loss to Boise State, has completed 61 of 102 passes for 581 yards and four touchdowns. But the 49ers have rushed for only 147 yards. They have committed 15 turnovers.
