VENTURA : Faulty Switch Cuts Electricity to 4,600

Share

A faulty underground switch cut power to 4,460 Southern California Edison customers in Ventura Monday, a utility spokesman said.

The switch, at Ralston Street and Ramelli Avenue, failed at 3:30 p.m.

The outage affected customers from Ramelli Avenue and Telephone Road on the northeast to the Ventura Freeway and Santa Clara River on the southeast, and from Callens Road and the Southern Pacific railroad tracks on the southwest to Callens and Main Street on the northwest, Edison area manager Mark Olson said.

All but about 100 customers regained power by 5:15 p.m., Olson said. Power for the remaining customers was back by 8:06 p.m., he said. Olson said circuit testing during repairs caused customers’ electricity to turn off and on.
