BABY BOOMERS: Despite negative publicity from custody battles involving surrogate mothers, a San Clemente surrogacy center reports business is booming. Kathryn Wycoff, above, who runs it, has placed an ad in Parenting magazine: “Give the gift of parenting: Be a surrogate . . . $13,000 plus all expenses paid.” Wycoff is getting 10 to 12 calls a week in response to the ad, she says. She adds that of 4,000 surrogate-arranged births in the United States, only 12 cases have resulted in courtroom battles.
