TV Ratings : CBS Retains Its Lock on No. 1

CBS, the third-place network for the past four seasons, won the prime-time race again last week, according to figures released Tuesday by the A.C. Nielsen Co. It marked the third time in the three-week-old season that CBS was the top-rated network. The last time CBS won the season’s first three weeks was in the fall of 1973.

* Dukakis beat Bush. “Fire in the Dark,” a new made-for-TV movie starring Olympia Dukakis, finished 24th, easily besting ABC’s “The Heroes of Desert Storm” Sunday, which was 56th. “Desert Storm” included an introduction read by President Bush. Dukakis is the first cousin of former Massachusetts Gov. Michael S. Dukakis, the Democrats’ unsuccessful 1988 presidential nominee.
