Panel Takes No Public Action Against Judge

The Commission on Judicial Performance has declined to take any public action against the presiding judge of the Los Angeles County Juvenile Court after investigating allegations that he intervened in a case involving his teen-age son and helped promote a Superior Court commissioner with whom he had a business relationship.

In a terse statement released Tuesday, the commission said it had investigated the actions of Judge Jaime Corral and “made an appropriate disposition.”

While a commission spokesman would not elaborate, the statement left open the possibility that the judge was subjected to private discipline, that he received a warning letter from the commission, or that the case was closed without any action. Corral could not be reached. His lawyer, Ephraim Margolin, declined to comment.
