Pop Album Chart : Garth Brooks Ropes 2 Top 10 Spots

Share

Garth Brooks winning those Country Music Assn. awards on the highly rated TV ceremonies obviously prompted fans to run out and buy his “Ropin’ the Wind” album. That’s why it reclaimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard magazine pop chart, breaking Guns N’ Roses’ lock on the top two slots. Some of those fans were also buying Brooks’ last album, “No Fences,” which moved up five notches to No. 10--placing Brooks in the rare position of having two Top 10 albums. Motley Crue’s greatest-hits album, “Decade of Decadence,” entered the chart at No. 2 because it’s more than just an oldies album. The big attraction for the Crue crowd is four new tracks. * Hosting the CMA awards show did wonders for Reba McEntire, whose “For My Broken Heart” debuted at No. 25.
