CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN DIEGO : Blacktip Shark Bears Three Pups

A Pacific blacktip shark gave birth to three healthy pups at Sea World, marking the first documented birth of the species in captivity, officials said. Officials feared the mother might attempt to cannibalize her young, so she was removed from the aquarium later in the day. The pups may eventually grow to be six feet long.
