Americans Offered Discounts in the Bahamas

Share

The Bahamas has introduced a free “Bahamas Treasure Card” for use by American visitors. The new card offers discounts of up to 50% at more than 100 restaurants, theaters/nightspots, sightseeing attractions, sports/nautical activities and stores.

Valid through Jan. 31, 1993, the Treasure Card is distributed in the United States through tour operators selling packages to the Bahamas. The card is also available at several casino hotels in the Bahamas, including the Paradise Island Resort & Casino in Nassau, Carnivals Crystal Palace Resort & Casino at Cable Beach, Bahamas Princess Resort and Casino in Freeport and the Lucayan Beach Resort & Casino in Lucaya. Travelers only have to show vouchers for travel arrangements or proof of entry into the country to get the card at these hotels.

With the Treasure Card comes a brochure listing outlets that honor it. Since there are no coupons involved, the card can be reused at any participating establishment.

Among the attractions honoring the card are the Ardastra Gardens, Coral World Marine Park and Underwater Observatory, and Hartley’s Undersea Walk.

An item in last week’s column on a weekend discount offered by Red Lion Hotels & Inns incorrectly implied that the promotion’s low prices were available at Fess Parker’s Red Lion Resort in Santa Barbara.
