BUENA PARK : Baby Injured in Fall From Apartment
A year-old boy remained in critical condition Sunday after he climbed onto a dresser inside his two-story apartment and fell out of a window to the cement courtyard below, police said.
Scott Bright suffered massive head injuries, including a fractured skull, about 5 p.m. Saturday and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was eventually admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit.
The boy’s father, Jerry Bright, was in the living room of the family’s apartment on the 5700 block of Burnham Avenue when his son apparently climbed on top of a bedroom dresser that was placed against a window. Buena Park Police Lt. Tom Lucenti said that Scott then leaned on a screen that gave way and that he fell about 15 feet to the pavement below.
Authorities have notified the child protection services branch of the state Department of Social Services to review the circumstances surrounding the fall, Lucenti said.
