Classroom Spending
Newspapers usually quote a figure of $5,000 per pupil as the money spent in California on education. That’s $150,000 for a 30-pupil classroom. Immediate costs for a classroom are a teacher at about $35,000 and classroom supplies. What happens to the other $100,000 is never explained. It’s time to take a look at what happens to the money from start to finish; $2 are being spent before $1 is spent in the classroom. It should be the other way around.
