VENTURA : Shelter for Battered Women Plans Walk
- Share via
A nonprofit group that runs a shelter for battered women will sponsor a walk today to promote awareness of domestic violence.
The walk--sponsored by Interface Children, Family Services--starts at noon in the Ventura County Government Center courtyard, proceeds to the Ventura Police Department and loops back.
The walk will highlight Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, which was designated in a resolution by the County Board of Supervisors.
Last year, the Ventura Police Department reported more than 16,000 domestic violence calls, according to the resolution, which calls such violence “the greatest health danger to women in our country--greater than either heart disease or cancer.”
