Lois Miller Malcolm, who was active with several PTA organizations in the San Fernando Valley, has died at her Studio City home. She was 71.

Mrs. Malcolm died Saturday of cancer, said her husband, Robert P. Malcolm.

Born in Los Angeles, she graduated in 1938 from John Marshall High School and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1942 from UCLA, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. After college, she worked as a ticket agent supervisor for American Airlines until 1948, when she left to raise her family.

Mrs. Malcolm was active with the Parent-Teacher Assn. at Carpenter Avenue School in Studio City, which awarded her a life membership in the California PTA for her volunteer help. She later was active with the PTA organizations at Walter Reed Junior High School in North Hollywood and North Hollywood High School.

Mrs. Malcolm was a member and officer of the Laurel Garden Club, was active with the National Charity League and had been a Camp Fire leader.

In addition to her husband of 42 years, Mrs. Malcolm is survived by a son, Robert M. Malcolm of Cincinnati; a daughter, Susan Malcolm of Cohasset, Calif., and two grandchildren.

A funeral service, with burial to follow, is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Wee Kirk O’ the Heather Church, Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, 1712 S. Glendale Ave., Glendale. Forest Lawn Mortuary in Glendale is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Mrs. Malcolm’s name to Blind Childrens Center, 4120 Marathon St., P.O. Box 29159, Los Angeles 90099-5400, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
