ON HOLD: Sentenced Wednesday for killing a young girl (B1), Richard DeHoyos, above, is the first Orange County defendant since 1989 to receive a death verdict. The last was serial killer Randy Steven Kraft, whose trip to the gas chamber is going more slowly than anyone expected. His automatic appeal is stalled because the state hasn’t been able to find a lawyer willing to handle the case. . . . “Is that baloney or what?” says prosecutor Bryan Brown. Kraft agrees. He’s written to the state to hurry it along.
