COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titan Women Win One, but Lose the Match
Cal State Fullerton won a game from Hawaii for the first time since 1984, but the Titans fell, 3-1, in a Big West Conference women’s volleyball match Friday at Fullerton.
Hawaii, the fourth-ranked team in the nation, won the first two games, 15-3, 15-6, before Fullerton won, 15-10. Hawaii took the final game, 15-11.
By winning the third game, Fullerton ended its losing streak to Hawaii (13-2, 7-2) at 41 games. Becky Holwett had 18 kills and Angela Lightfoot had 15 for Fullerton (6-19, 1-7). The teams meet again at 7:30 tonight at Fullerton.
In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s volleyball:
Azusa Pacific 3, Christ College Irvine 0--The Eagles fell to 10-17, 1-7 in conference, despite 10 kills by Miriam Paulus.
