Royal 32, Newbury Park 14--Quarterback Ryan Fien threw for one touchdown and ran for another as visiting Royal (6-0, 3-0) beat Newbury Park (0-6, 0-3). Fien (eight for 13, 133 yards) connected with Ryan Campbell on a 63-yard touchdown pass on the Highlanders’ first play of the second quarter.
On Royal’s next possession, Fien ran for a five-yard score.
Damien Geib (six rushes, 30 yards) ran for two touchdowns and Mike Streeter had 17 carries for 180 yards to lead Royal’s ground game.
Newbury Park quarterback Keith Smith was 23 of 41 for 317 yards and two touchdowns, both to Leodes Van Buren for the Panthers’ only scores. Smith was sacked seven times.
