Baldwin Park : Initiatives Being Considered
- Share via
The City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to look into putting two initiatives on the city ballot in April, 1992.
The first would be a special police tax, of about $50 annually per household and business, and the second would allow a card club to operate in the city.
The special tax, requiring two-thirds voter approval, would allow the city’s understaffed Police Department to hire eight officers and four support staff.
Councilman Herschel Keyser proposed the card club initiative, for which he is circulating a petition.
City Manager Donald Penman said he will report back on the measures at the council’s next meeting, Nov. 6.
