Game 1 Gets a 17.8 Overnight Rating
Saturday night’s Game 1 of the World Series between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves got a 17.8 overnight television rating and a 31 share on CBS.
The overnight rating, a sampling from about two dozen major markets, is down from the 20.8 overnight rating from last year’s Series opener between the Oakland Athletics and the Cincinnati Reds.
However, last year’s opener was on a Tuesday night, when there are usually more viewers.
Until Game 7 of the National League playoffs, this season’s baseball postseason ratings have generally been off those of previous years.
