Bush Vetoes Jobless Aid

Share

The President and his advisers for nearly two years have been telling us the economy is improving. That’s what they say, but unemployment statistics say something else. If the economy were improving, more people would be hired for jobs. If more people were hired for jobs, fewer people would need the federal extension.

Unfortunately, neither the President nor his advisers lives in the real world. None of them realize the day-to-day struggle ordinary people have just providing themselves with housing, food and health insurance. If those empowered with the ability to help got down from their towers and walked among this country’s “huddled masses,” perhaps there would be fewer “tired” and “poor.”
