The Woodland Hills office of AT&T; that provides statewide telephone assistance to the deaf will close within five months, resulting in the elimination of 300 jobs, AT&T; said.

The office, currently operating under a four-year contract awarded by the state in 1987, recently lost its bid for a new contract to rival telecommunications company U.S. Sprint Communications Co.

AT&T; said it plans to retrain, relocate or provide outplacement services to the Woodland Hills employees.
